PostNet driver **** about delivery – paid for door delivery and got nothing but stress

I am absolutely disappointed with postnet. I sent a package from Ballito to Johannesburg on Sunday. I was advised that it would take 2 to 3 working days for the package to reach the destination. My package weighed 2.7 kgs but because postnet didn't have small boxes and i was desperate for the items to be delivered I payed around R200 more because I used a bigger box which i didn't mind. I mentioned to the lady at postnet that the recipient must be contacted before the driver reaches there to make sure there's no miscommunication. I did ask for the drivers number to deal with them directly but was told the number can't be given out but the recipients number is available for the driver to contact them. I have been tracking the progress from Monday.

On Tuesday I saw that it said no one at home delivery failed at around 10am. I phoned the postnet call centre and asked them once again to tell the driver to call the recipient and I was assured everything will be sorted the next day. Today I asked the recipient to please work from home because the package will definitely be delivered today.

I tracked the package from 8 am around 6 times, at 12am the tracker still said on route, i called the call centre once again to remind them that if no one comes to the gate just call the recipients number. The lady was very helpful she said she will contact the driver to let him know but before that she asked for my parcel tracking number and she also confirmed its on route.

I updated the recipient straight after the call and they confirmed they didn't go anywhere they are still waiting. At 3 30 when I checked the status once again it said delivery failed at 9 30am because no one was at home which is impossible as i mentioned before the recepient waited all day and throughout the day it said on route so how foes it say no one at home at 9 30am.

I tried calling the call centre multiple times and couldn't get through so I called postnet ballito who called the call centre for me and the advice I got was to allow the parcel to be delivered at the nearest postnet. I'm so disgusted with the service. So I payed for door delivery service, which I don't need to give a reason for, but now I must be inconvenienced because a driver probably **** and is not doing his job.

The contact number was given for a reason. I don't understand why the recipients number was taken if they are not contacted. The last call I had with the call centre was around 16 30. The lady was really helpful, she emailed someone to escalate the matter so I can get my parcel delivered today. She did apologize and mentioned that I am not the first person to have complained about this happening with the driver. I never got any call till now, i tried calling the call centre at 6 and they were closed. It's a pity that postnet is partnering with a company that's so unreliable, dishonest and is giving postnet a bad name. If I knew postnet was so terrible with customer service i would have just used Pep it's much cheaper and reliable.
