We sent a package via Postnet Van der Hoff to Scottsburg. After the package arrived at Pretoria hub, the receiver was phoned and told that they had broken a bottle of precious oil that was sent to him. The oil also damaged the other products in the package which included jewelry and cookies. Please note that on our side the bottle was securely packaged with bubble wrap and polystyrene. We also had stickers put on the box stating that it was fragile, it should not be double stacked and which side should be facing up. After the receiver was called, we contacted Van der Hoff branch which advised us that the package should be sent to the receiver who took a video of the package as he received and opened it. We found that our original packaging had been tampered with and replaced without our consent or knowledge. The contents were destroyed not only by the bottle being broken but also by pure disrespect of the goods themselves. Some contents were torn and the cookies looked like they were crushed into crumbs by someone's hands. Postnet refuses to replace the bottle they broke due to mismanagement on their part on the grounds that they are not allowed to transport glass items, yet they took our money and failed to inform us that they are not allowed to do so when they knew the exact contents of the package and also stated that they do have a protocol when glass items ARE being transported. They did not inform us at all of the protocols or the rules concerning glass items. Yet after the incident we were quickly informed, and to our surprise our packaging was still up to standard according to their protocols. Yet they use the packaging as excuse not to refund this very expensive oil. From this experience we have found the service to be unprofessional and ************* with no regard to damages they cause their clients as well as sarcasm from the owners.
