Poor customer relations at Postnet Milnerton

VERY POOR AND UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE AT MILNERTON POSTNET.

Good day.

Today 15th July 2020 I went to PostNet Milnerton to ship a parcel to a friend of mine in Humansdorp. Upon entering the I placed the parcel on the counter and was then assisted by Chandre in retail sales. Taking the parcel and measuring it as they usually do to determine the parcel’s specs and therefore shipping cost.

Upon her asking me to declare what was in the parcel, I declared to her that it was bamboo and glass. Assuring her that the glass was not sharp and was well wrapped bottles and a bamboo food steamer.

Telling me that in the past they encountered people who declared something and it turned out to be something entirely different than was originally declared, and that she will have to open my package to see if I was telling the truth!

Fetching her very blunt box cutter she started in proceeding gutting away at my well wrapped waterproof parcel at the wrong side. After rectifying her, she started opening the box to inspect what was inside and to determine if it was indeed as I declared.

I enquired as to where it was stated that parcels had to be inspected before shipment and a very eager, very arugant and very rude store manager named Jo-Anne walked to the back wall and stated that it was printed for display. Upon asking another employee where it was, they finally located it as being placed among other laminated items displayed on the wall and not at all in plain sight of the customers, especially where I was standing at the door counter.

Chandre was at this point busy dissecting my beautifully wrapped parcel to her enjoyment to prove me wrong in what I had declared. When flying, and declaring something to customs, they at least have the decency to open and inspect your parcel, item or luggage away from the gaze of other people. At the PostNet in Milnerton they do not have this level of professionalism and I was not very impressed when she started removing declared items out of my parcel in plain sight of other people in the shop. She had this utter look of disappointment on her face when she found the items to be that as to which I had declared.

Asking her that it would probably be ok to bring everything in future and then seal it in front of her seing that they don’t believe what you tell them, she sarcastically told me that if that’s what I want to do it will be ok to do so..

Chandre then took my parcel and I waited and waited untIl ll I prompted her to reseal my parcel while I am still standing there, because I wanted to see with my own eye’s that it was properly sealed as she does not believe me, I can not believe her either.

I then proceeded to ask for the stores managers name and was sarcastically handed her store card, and so also the sales clerk which had more or less the same response when handing me her card.

I have shipped numerous parcels in the past and never, not once was I asked to open a package or parcel after I have declared to the staff what it was that I was shipping.

The mere fact that they had to search for where it was stated on the wall and not properly displayed at the door or on the counter for the general public to see means that not only me, but countless people are going to experience what I experienced today and will also NOT be impressed as I was NOT impressed today.

Telling me that she does not believe me in what I have declared because in the past they have found people not being honest and declaring wrongful stuff, now means that unwillingly and without permission they are invading your privacy and displaying your private property for all including customers to see.

They need to get their act together!

I would like to know if this is a pre or post covid-19 lockdown rule that this has been implemented in your PostNet service as a lot leaves to be desired and your level of services is is not very impressive at all.

God day CJ
