Passing the buck to deny incompetence

I asked for used reading glasses to be sent to my wife in Groningen Netherlands.Upon their delivery a amount of R690 was requested for customs duty which should not be the case as they were personal used effects.Postnet Paarl refused to admit that they sent the wrong instructions. On the return of the parcel I received a bill of R1904.10 for shipping for return shipping and customs duty. This is 3x the cost of shipping to the Netherlands as well as a so called customs duty of R537.10 which is totally impossible! I have been in the import/export business for 35 years and know that this is devoid of all truth.Upon confronting them with this all I could get was a snotty attitude of the so called owner saying pay up or go to hell.Iwill never have any future dealings with Postnet Paarl and if this matter is not resolved I will institute legal action as a matter of principal.I can assure you that I have better things to do with my time, but this has gone to far and I will definately take action to warn the public of their incompetence

Hello hendrik du toit,

Very sorry that we have seemingly not been able to address your concerns satisfactorily with regards to the shipping matter raised in your posting.

From the correspondence received it would appear that PostNet Paarl acted on instruction from our service provider, in this case, DHL and the information was relayed to you via e-mail. Outbound shipping charges do differ from inbound related charges.

It is so that we, nor DHL, have any proxy on custom related matters and we can only abide by what information we receive.

Kind regards.
