No service standard

Is it now a days so difficult to get reasonable service. I went to collect a parcel at Port Alfred, was not even greeted the person then told me to show the sms and rolled her eyes, I had a drivers license on me and the response I got from her is "now i have to type it in". Is it that difficult to put a smile on your face or make the client feel welcome.
