Meadowridge and Lakeside postnets - what a difference
I have been using Lakeside Postnet for a long time and find it an absolute pleasure to go there. The two guys that work there are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. When you walk in, you get greeted with a smile and friendly words. For the first time I went to Meadowridge Postnet this morning as I needed some copies made and what a difference to the one in Lakeside. There are a man and woman working there, and they clearly are both very unhappy in their work. They don't greet a person, they don't smile, they are not helpful. The woman just said I would have to come back later as they are busy with other work and it will take time to make the copies. So I said to her does she not want to do the copies? She said she can do it, but it will take time. So I said that's fine, I can come back later to fetch the copies. I found her rude and unhelpful attitude quite off putting so I asked to speak to the manager. The two staff members gave each other a look as if to say "what does this annoying customer want now". Then the man said "you can speak to me" but in such a way as to show that he was NOT interested in what I have to say. So I just said "don't bother, I wouldn't want to put you out and I don't see it would make a difference anyway" and I left. I just don't understand what's wrong with the people in the service industry in this country. Whether it's a shop, bank, post office etc. it's actually quite rare nowadays to be helped by someone who is friendly and efficient. I would ask that if the Manager at Meadowridge Postnet does read this, he / she simply reminds the staff that all they have to do is be polite and friendly, surely not too much to ask!
