FRUSTRATION AND DISAPPOINTMENT IN INEFFICIENT UNINFORMED AND *********** SERVICE DELIVERY BY POSTNET PORT EDWARD
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Early on Tuesday the 8th of December , I wanted to courier Christmas gifts timeously to my grandchildren in New Zealand I was attended to by Lindsay who seemed to be clued up with the process, I had to provide a detailed description of the unwrapped items, consisting of a cellphone, cell phone cover and a head phone The items were then bubble wrapped, sealed in the appropriate size international courier box, an invoice generated with a detailed description of the items and paid for I was provided with the relevant Tracking number and informed that shipment information would start appearing in about 8 hours time I started the tracking process that night, excited to see that the package had already arrived at the Aramex origin sorting facility in Durban Then 3 days later, on Friday the 11th of December, I receive a call from Lindsay informing me that the package cannot be shipped because it contains a cellphone and that cell phone batteries are a flight risk, could they remove the battery? My first response was why hadn't this prohibitory stipulation been pointed out to me at the time, she apologised saying she was not aware of the restriction I said that I would call her back regarding the possibility of them removing the battery. I called Samsung who informed me that the phone was sealed and that removing the battery was a complex and risky procedure involving special tools and expertise and once opened it would no longer be waterproof I called Lindsay explaining the Samsung feedback, that they should not attempt to remove the battery and asking whether, from my perspective, it would be safe to ask that the cell phone be removed from the package and returned to Port Edward whilst the rest of the package continues the journey? Plus that the original costs should then also be recalculated accordingly She undertook to firstly, discuss the matter with her Manager, then send an email to Durban and get back to me. I received a courtesy call from her on Saturday just to say that she is still waiting for a reply and would get back to me on Monday, the 14th, On Monday, being yesterday, I called her , she was still waiting for feedback from Durban, I asked to speak with her Manager and got transferred to Katrien Her response was vague, she was aware of the problem but I had caught her off guard.. She would look into the matter and call me back, I again called her late afternoon, she had already left, I left a message for her to call me back urgently Today, Tuesday the 14th already, a week on now , package still stuck in Durban, no response, my proactive endeavor to ensure that the presents are delivered before Christmas futile, plus a financial layout of R2500 to Postnet Really disappointed in Postnet, more though in the fact that my grandchildren will not have their gifts by Christmas If Postnet don't have the ability to resolve the problem, simply return the package with a full refund to me and I will arrange for an alternative courier service provider.
