Don't send anything of value (sentimental or moneywise) via postnet.

I made use of Postnet's service to courier 5 boxes from Johannesburg to Cape Town. These boxes all had things with great sentimental value to me. When I collected my boxes at PostNet Cape Town, the staff member who helped me pointed out that my boxes arrived very damaged. She wanted to make sure I knew that they received them like that from the courier. As I got home and unpacked the one box, I saw that all my breakables got broken(the other boxes had linen in luckily.) Postnet now claims that I was given an option to add insurance when signing the waybill, but the only thing is, I was never given a waybill when my things were collected. I never got anything to sign, nor was I informed that their insurance would not cover it. Postnet refuses to take responsibility and is only willing to pay me R1500, which is half the financial value of the things that were damaged. Phillip Jarvis from Postnet Epson Downs claimed that they bubble wrapped my things and took excellent care of it, which is a lie. I bubble wrapped things myself. They didn't include any additional wrapping, and the state in which my boxes arrived makes it clear that these boxes were not handled with care.
