Delaying my visa application
Yesterday I went to Postnet at Canal Walk shopping Centre where I asked to post my documents off to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation. the woman behind the counter said that the post office has started striking again and that she cannot send my documents by registered mail but she can do courier service. I explained that It's to a government building. So I filled out the envelope and paid. Then she looked up the address and said no sorry, the cost is double what I paid for delivery to a government building. So when quoted well over R1000, I said refund me rather. Today I cannot find any reports of a strike and I am highly peeved that you have delayed my visa application and cost me a lot of time and effort. Explain please?
Very sorry for the inconvenience and frustration caused. The matter was referred to the owner of the store who advised as follows:
Our information from our local Post Office was that deliveries cannot be guaranteed. We pass this information on to our customers.
The price quoted was the normal recommended retail of R185 plus R265 government building surcharge. For both ways that came to a total of R900.
Kind regards.
