AVOID POSTNET STRAND! WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been a loyal PostNet customer since my High School days and went on to use them for all my printing/document needs at University. Then when I started my own small business they were my go to for all my printing and courier needs. Whenever I was asked where people can take their parcels to be couriered I ALWAYS recommended PostNet and never had a bad word to speak about them. Their service was excellent and the staff was always helpful. In all this time I only had one incident where a parcel "disappeared", but the dedicated staff of PostNet went above and beyond to find it and the parcel was safely delivered to my customer.
Fast forward a good 10+ years my view on PostNet has completely changed. Where I was a loyal customer for over a decade and the ONE TIME that PostNet should have had my back as a customer they stabbed me in my back. Early in November 2023 I sent a parcel from PostNet Strand to a PostNet in JHB as I always do. Then a few days later I get an email (and later that day a phone call) to inform me that the courier vehicle was hijacked and all parcels was lost. My heart sank! I was assured that PostNet was handling the situation and that we will be kept updated on what is going on. I sent them ALL the relevant documentation they requested from me (7 November) and then waited. On the 27th of November I emailed and asked if there was any news and was meant with silence. I emailed again on the 13 the of December, 7 February 2024 and 6 March 2024 and heard NOTHING!
Then on the 29th of April 2024 I emailed again pleading for ANY word on what was happening with the situation. A Chinell rep**** to my email ensuring me that the claim had been submitted to the insurer and that they were waiting on them for the claim. Then SILNCE AGAIN!
10 July I emailed again pleading for news on what was happening. A Deon (the most helpful employee at PostNet Strand) responded to my email and got to work to see what was going on. He informed me that PostNet Strand had new owners and that he will do all he could to assist me. He managed to find all the relevant documentation, including the paper work that stated I was owed over R2800 for the item lost in the hijacking. He had me email all me previous correspondence with PostNet Strand up to that point which I did. Eventually this AMAZING employee was able to get me some answers... The PostNet acknowledged that I was rightfully owed my payout per documentation, but they are unable to refund me at that time. I would choose between having an in store credit of the same amount, or, I can wait for my payment which will take some time (NO TIMELINE GIVEN!!!!). I felt I was entitled to have my money because it wasn't my fault that the parcel got lost. The employee said he will convey my decision to management, and, that was the last I ever heard from the. on 17 December 2024 I emailed once more in the hopes of hearing anything related to my payout and (not to my surprise) all I got was dead silence.
I have lost all hope that I will ever see my money and it is made very clear to me that PostNet only cares for their loyal customers as long as they can have your money, but let them owe you something your loyalty means absolutely NOTHING to them. I never though I would ever be treated like this by a company that I have supported my entire life! I had to refund my client out of my own pocket which as a small business owner nearly destroyed me! I have lost my faith in this company and will NEVER EVER refer people to them. I have also stopped using them and taken my business somewhere else.
I don't think I will ever see my money so I just caution everyone to use PostNet, especially PostNet Strand, at your own peril. At the end of the day they just want your money and care NOTHING for their customers.
