At 16:10 on Friday, 12 December 2025 I went to collect a DHL parcel on from the Post Office in East Lynne, Pretoria. However, when I arrived at the mall, there was a PostNet, with a huge sign on the window that stated "DHL courier service". Because the Post Office in South Africa is basically dysfunctional, I assumed that I made a mistake and needed to be at PostNet.
When I entered the shop there were three people behind the counter. One lady was at the computer/pay point where she was helping someone to make a single black and white photocopy - it took het two minutes to manage to get the transaction done on the computer.
In the far corner behind the counter a man and a woman was busy with a parcel. Well, the man was busy wrapping about an entire roll of cellotape around the parcel. The woman was just standing there, looking at him. Every few wraps he would stop and then she cut the cellotape. Then he would start wrapping again and so the process continues.
Not one of these people paid any attention to me or acknowledged that they saw me. Finally, when the 1m long parcel was wrapped from top to bottom with cellotape, the man came closet to the counter to put the cellotape away. Only when I gave a step closer dit he look up and gestured to me with his eyes.
I told him that I must collect a DHL parcel and showed him the tracing details on my phone. His only reply (he never greeted me or asked if he could help) was, "YOU ARE IN A POSTNET". When I said I was aware if that, he said "GO TO THE POST OFFICE".
I have never experienced such rude, awful, and *********** service from a private service provider in my life. I will make sure that all my contact are warned and I will advise them to go to other PostNet outlets.
