Pathetically Poor Pool Proudly
We signed a contract with Pool Proud, Margate KZN on 3rd January 2017 to install a fiberglass pool (Nevada, 12 - 13,000lt capacity, supp**** by Clear Water Pools), which included a 10 year guarantee on the shell @ a cost of over R80,000. 23/01/17 work began 25/01/17 the shell was placed and despite my husband pointing out that the pool was not level, the Pool Proud team started filling it. 26/01/17 the pool had to be emptied (±10,000lt of water wasted) because the shell was not level - hum. Pity we were ignored on the 25th. So the pool was emptied, shell removed, replaced and the compacting recommenced. 31/01/17 the compacting had to be removed again in order to lay orange bags filled with G5 and placed around the pool. Compacting began again! It appears that during this compacting process, the side of the pool shell was damaged. 09/02/17 Pool Proud was not on site BUT a truck with the extra cobble paving arrived outside the complex unannounced without Pool Proud sending any one to assist with off-loading. My 72 year old husband, me (64) and my two children caught and stacked the bricks that were thrown over the wall - about 5000 of them! 17/02/17 the pool is finally finished and the gang leaves site 08/03/17 we noticed two 'hole-like-areas' appeared at the bottom of the pool where the paint/fiberglass had peeled away, plus several 'bubbles' along the side of the pool and two bulges. We reported this and a technician came to site and acknowledged the defects. 13/03/17 several unhelpful phone calls result in my email to the owner of Pool Proud, Shaun Tapson, requesting the defects be fixed. My email is ignored. 25/03/17 my 2nd email to Tapson received a response (27/03/17) that he will NOT keep entertain our phonecalls and emails about the defects and that we must let the pool settle for 6 months. 01/12/17 after numerous calls are ignored, Tapson refuses to meet with us, but wants photos of the defects to send to the supplier. We explain that we don't have an underwater camera and are NOT going to buy one, and he cuts the call! So here we are at the end of the year, approximately R100,000.00 poorer (cobble paving included) with a pool that continues to 'bubble', 'bulge' and 'peel' and a rude supplier who appears to be unwilling to honour his commitment. Our opinion - don't deal with Shaun Tapson!
