Refusing to take responsibility for in store incident

I received a brand new bag as a birthday gift from my husband at the end of August so I’ve only worn it a handful of times. A few weeks ago I visited the Poetry store in Canal Walk, and as required I proceeded to dispense hand sanitizer.

Problem with THEIR hand sanitizer is, it was a pump dispenser that squirts FORWARD instead of downward into your hand and as a result has ruined my brand new Aldo bag. (Note, this wasn’t a spray sanitizer bottle, otherwise I would have kept my hand in the position to catch the spray). Their sanitizer went straight past my hand and onto my bag!

I reported it to the store manager and took it up via email but they refuse to accept any responsibility. Their offer to me is a voucher for 30% off at their store, completely missing the point. Poetry, just accept responsibility for what could have ended up in a child’s eye being the target.

Also, I’d like some kind of solution for what now is just MY problem.
