Shocking, Unsanitary Pizza Hut Experience
We ordered Pizza Hut (N1 City) for delivery on Saturday and had the most terrible experience.
I ordered online on their website and was told that my order was confirmed and would be with me in 30 mins. After 35 mins, I called them to find out where the pizza was. The manager said that she tried calling me to explain that the order didn't come through immediately but they were busy with it.
I called back after a while to ask if the driver had left with it already - she said the pizzas were done but they were waiting on the driver to get there. It was already 45 mins since I'd placed my order, so I said that I would rather come & collect (who knows how long the driver would take to get there?!)
When I got there, my temperature was checked at the door & I was asked to sanitize my hands before going inside. While I was waiting to be served, a driver came in with his mask around his neck and DID NOT sanitise his hands. He proceeded to go in and check on his order - leaned across the pizzas on the table without a mask on! I immediately questioned what was going on and he moved away to sanitise and put on his mask.
I waited for a while & when nobody came to serve me, I eventually asked where my order was, They said that they were waiting on one of my pizzas (after I had been told the pizza was ready & they were waiting on the driver). The manager said that the pizza had burnt & they were making a new one.
1. If my pizza had been ready when she said it was, she would have known it was burnt & would not have told me I could come & collect
2. When she eventually saw it was burnt, why did she not call me to say it was going to be a little while longer?
I continued to wait & the manager offered me a 1 litre Coke for the inconvenience, which was appreciated. While waiting, the delivery guy proceeded to slice one of the pizzas. Would he have done this without a mask & with unsanitised hands if I had not stopped him earlier?
The order eventually arrived, but when we got home, my tropical veg pizza had chicken on it. Luckily we do eat chicken so we ate the pizza as is - by that point, I was too hungry (and disappointed) to bother calling to have the mistake corrected.
This was a shocking experience - the late and incorrect order was one thing, but what blew my mind was the lack of consideration for what's happening in the world - Covd-19 is real and who knows how many pizzas that delivery guy has leaned across and how many people's food packaging he has touched with unsanitised hands.
