Unauthorised Change to Debit Order Agreement

I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received regarding the management of my debit order agreement. My original agreement stipulated that my debit order would be processed on the 1st of each month. Without my consent or prior notification, this date was changed, resulting in my account being overdrawn and incurring interest charges.

Issues:

1. I was not informed or given a choice about the change to my debit order date.

2. This unauthorised action caused my account to be overdrawn, leading to unnecessary interest charges.

3. Attempts to address this issue have not yielded a satisfactory resolution.

Legal Concerns: This conduct violates South African consumer protection laws, including:

The Debit Order Dispute Process, which requires explicit consent from account holders for any changes.

The Consumer Protection Act, which prohibits unilateral changes to contractual agreements.

Resolution Demanded:

Immediate reversal of the unauthorised debit order.

A refund of any interest charges incurred.

Assurance that the original debit order date of the 1st of each month will be reinstated permanently.

I am appalled by the lack of professionalism and transparency in this matter. If this issue is not resolved urgently, I will consider further action through regulatory bodies.

I am appalled at Pineapple's response regarding the unauthorized debit order on Christmas Eve. Their representative, Valencia, stated it was my responsibility to notify them if I disagreed with their unilateral decision to adjust the debit order date.

Let me be clear: Pineapple never sought my explicit consent for this change, which is a direct violation of both the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act. These laws require companies to obtain customer approval before altering the terms of a debit order mandate.

This unauthorized debit order caused me to cancel my Christmas plans, leaving me in financial distress during a time meant for family and celebration. The emotional toll of this situation is immeasurable.

I demand accountability from Pineapple and urge them to adhere to the regulations protecting consumers. No customer should have to endure such disregard for their financial well-being
