Pineapple Insurance is a ****

I feel ****med, I insured my device for R3500, then it suddenly stopped working after I dropped it ,it stopped working (without any physical damage) I then submitted a claim ,upon which they collected the device and said it was still repairable. Then I was told to pay R1500 in excess directly to the repairs company (Device Doctor)...my question is what's the point of having an insurer if I still have to pay half of my device's value just to get it fixed, intact how much is the repair in total, how much is my insurer meeting me halfway. I feel ******,especially because I had to purchase a new device altogether because of their snail paced process.
