Pineapple a *****/**** of an Insurance.
I totally wouldn't recommend this insurance company to the devil himself. I'm only selecting 1 star because there is no option of selecting 0 stars. I made a claim after having accident due to a hijack attempt. Firstly I had to lodge a claim via an app which is not convenient at all and the consultants take forever to respond. Was finally assigned a lady called Koketso from the app to assist. The whole process was dragging. She managed to get an online Assessors named Straight Through that did the assessment with me having to send pictures to them.
Thereafter an Investigator named Joe Masilela was appointed to handle my claim and I guess is the go to person who looks for reasons not to pay/settle nonetheless the less I furnished him with AR forms and all documents required. He behaved like he was doing me a favour on a policy that I was paying for. The whole process involving this guy felt like an interrogation by FBI yet I'm the victim. I was interrogated about angles of my impact and how certain scratches got there like I was driving and I was on the outside as well checking what scratch was caused by what object at the same time. And he knew very well this incident took place when I was in distress(Hijack Attempt). He went and inspected my car and Informed me he wasn't happy with the damage on the car. He insisted I meet up with him at accident scene which I said was OK provided that he transport me to and from the scene since I didn't have a courtesy car and I wasn't about to drive back to the scene of were I experienced trauma. From that request things went downhill as he now requested that I sign a consent form to look into my cellphone records and my banking statements and other things. To which I declined as this was not in my contract/policy schedule and I stated that as an individual, I have the right to privacy and the protection of my personal information. The Constitution of South Africa, specifically Article 14, Section 1, states that everyone has the right to privacy, including the right not to have the privacy of their communications infringed upon.
Moreover, the Protection of Personal Information Act (PoPIA) of 2013 also protects individuals’ personal information from being misused or ********ly processed. As a responsible citizen.
That lead to my insurance claim getting rejected all because I did not sign a consent form that is not on the initial contract that we got into. They basically want me to give them permission to snoop in my private life.
