In December I hit a pothole that damaged my vehicle. When I submitted my claim, I expected the standard excess of about R6,200, but was shocked to learn of two additional excesses: one doubling the fee because the accident occurred between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., and another tripling it since my policy was new, bringing the total to R18,600. Despite this, I proceeded, but the assessor’s evaluation was grossly inaccurate, leading to rejection of my claim. Independent quotations from the manufacturer and a reputable repairer show costs over R45,000 higher than Pineapple’s estimate. I submitted these over a week ago, yet there has been no feedback. This claim has dragged on for more than a month, leaving me without a vehicle and extremely frustrated.
