How Pineapple Insurance Nearly ****med Me – Don’t Make the Same Mistake

My experience with Pineapple Insurance has been nothing short of a nightmare. What began as a simple attempt to insure two vehicles has escalated into a situation involving misrepresentation and complete disregard for customer consent.

Despite clearly agreeing to specific start dates and premiums for both vehicles — confirmed in writing and verbally (Email Chain and recorded phone call) with their agent — I was sent multiple incorrect debit order mandates. These mandates reflected amounts significantly higher than what was agreed, and were based on start dates that were explicitly not yet in effect.

Even after I rejected these debit order mandates, I was told that Pineapple would proceed to debit my account anyway. This is not just a technical error — it is unauthorised financial activity and constitutes *****.

Their customer service has been appalling: • No responses from the in-app chat • No replies from their Email Support Address • No answers from the WhatsApp helpline • Empty promises that management would follow up — but no one ever does

To protect myself from Pineapple ********ly debiting my account, I have been forced to take the drastic step of starting to close my bank account entirely so that Pineapple won’t be able to debit my account with an amount that was significantly higher than what was agreed upon. (The bank informed me that I could try and report the debit order as *****, but these companies change the reference each month and continue debiting you – the consistent ***** reporting will hurt your credit score). This leaves me with no alternative but to close my bank account entirely.

This level of incompetence and dishonesty from a registered insurer is unacceptable. If they can't get a debit order or policy schedule right after three failed attempts, how could anyone possibly trust them to pay a claim?

Do not trust Pineapple Insurance with your money, your vehicle, or your peace of mind. Their conduct is not just negligent — it's borderline ********.
