Will keep this brief. Do not under any circumstances sign up for Pineapple insurance. No matter how appealing their cheap rates may be, they will do anything in their power to not approve claims. Although selling themselves as Insurance providers, they seem to be more like brokers with their underwriters actually making any final decisions. I've had 2 vehicles insured with Pineapple for a couple of years. I made a claim for a minor incident in December 2024 which their underwriters declined on a technicality. The excess was more than the damage anyway so had this repaired at my own cost. In June of 2025 I was involved in a major accident in my other vehicle, ultimately writing the vehicle off. They declined this claim based on their technical reasoning for declining the claim on the previous vehicle, and also citing a billing issue which they had previously admitted was an internal issue from their side. The inability to engage with a call centre (all comms through the app), their inability to actually see their own call and communication history and no reference numbers when there is telephonic engagement just show's the ineptitude and lack of professionality this entity offers. the old adage " you get what you pay for" is clear with Pineapple. you may pay peanuts, but don't expect to get any service, assistance, meaningful cover, or indeed the slightest modicum of empathy when it comes to traumatic experiences. I am left without a car and a legal fight and ombudsman process going forward.
