AVOID PINEAPPLE AT ALL COSTS

********** experience!! Do yourself a favour and stay far away!

I moved to Pineapple from Hollard because one of the Pineapple founders was in university with me and I wanted to support his business.

BIG MISTAKE!! Firstly please be careful of the reviews on here Pineapple have been running internal competitions to try see who can get the most five star reviews and I have received multiple requests from consultants to rate them five stars. This website is not a true reflection of the level of service provided by Pineapple insurance.

I am a Medical Doctor and have been a customer with Pineapple for 27 months now and have my Iphone and car insured with them. Recently my phone got ****** which was a traumatic experience in itself. This is my first ever claim of theft with pineapple and since the incident Pineapple have been making me jump through multiple hoops and treating me like a ******** rather than a victim.

After reporting the theft to the police and getting a case number and blacklisting number for the phone I submitted my claim.

Pineapple got back to me saying they need:

A Proof of purchase for the phone (I submitted a picture of my phone with the imei number when I originally insured it 27 months ago and have been paying for insurance ever since) A case number A blacklisting ITC number Last use document to be provided by service provider (I have never previously had to provide this. Vodacom did not even know what the document was when I went back to them to try get it. Customer service at Vodacoms exact words were 'Hulle is lekker ***** en wil jou nie uitbetaal nie.') Affidavit from the police stating that I had opened a case. ( The police could not even understand why I needed this. The case number already proves a case. I had to go back to the police the following day to get this affidavit.)

I was told if I didn't get these documents to them by Monday (It already was Thursday) then they would close my claim. I cancelled my patients for the Friday to try open up some time to go deal with this issue.

After heading back to the police and Vodacom and managing to get the documents I got a phone call from Brenda who was dealing with my claim and got interrogated for exactly 21 minutes asking me a series of very personal questions.

I was finally told that my claim will be processed (what a relief!) just to be contacted again today and asked for a series of additional documents including an affidavit that I got a sim swap done and proof that I had my screen repaired in August 2022.

I would like to warn you about Pineapple and save you the time and money. Rather get insured by a company that treats you with respect and doesn't try every trick in the book to avoid paying out your claim. My previous insurance asked for Case number and blacklisting details and immediately paid out.

I still am running around trying to jump through Pineapples hoops. The amount of time this has cost me away from work in the waiting area of police stations and Vodacoms has likely cost me the equivalent of another phone. I feel very uncomfortable having my Car insured with this company and will be looking to take my business elswhere and I suggest you all do the same.
