Wrong PI's on shelf and bad attitude from store manager

I wish to lay a complaint about the wrong pricing and general bad attitude of the Indian store manager at Aston Manor Mini Pick n Pay branch.

The Parmalat Maxislice Gouda flavoured cheese slices are packed on top of a R19.99 PI label on the shelf. You can see it very clearly in the picture attached.

I was at the till with the item and asked the cashier to scan the item first for me, it scanned at R31.99.

I told the cashier that the PI label on the shelf was for R19.99, she came with me and took the PI label to the Indian manager.

He first told the cashier, “what? Can’t you see that I’m busy”, then after the cashier explained and showed him the label he just said that the PI was for the 100g pack and not the 200g pack.

I explained that there was no other PI label on the shelf and that this product was advertised at the price on the PI label. He didn’t even want to walk with me to the shelf to check what was going on.

I told him that the had to give me the item at the advertised price as that was what the Pick n Pay store policy specified and also what the Consumer Protection Act stated. He just blatantly refused to help me, saying that he will not give me the item at the advertised price.

It’s bad enough that the items are wrongly priced, but for the store manager to have such a poor attitude to his customers is even worse.

I would really rather walk across the street to Checkers and do my shopping there in the future.

I would like for Pick n Pay to rectify this situation before I take this matter to the Consumer Ombudsman.

According to Business Insider South Africa - According to the supermarket group, "Pick n Pay will give you the item at the marked price, plus double the difference off the first item and the subsequent items at the lower price."

Now they contact me back and say that they still refuse to give me the product at the wrongly advertised price. Not even accepting that they made a mistake in the advertising or apologising for it. But they will talk to the manager for his poor attitude. WOW. taking this up with the Consumer Ombudsman next.
