I visited the Carlton Centre Pick n Pay this afternoon. I couldn't find everything that I wanted. I decided to return the few items I had were I initially found them and decided to exit the store. I was already outside the store when the security guard guy called me and he told me that a lady from the Control Room wants to see me. I obliged and went with him. When I got to the store a security guard lady by the name of Ntombi from Lodge Security approached me in a confrontational manner, asking me where is the cheese I had? I responded by telling her that I returned everything I had with me. Then came another security guard lady by the name of Princess from the same company and she also confronted me, rudely about the alledged cheese, apparently she also didn't see if I returned it. So much for securities who work at a Control Room but they can't actually see what's happening. Then I asked both Princess and Ntombi to call the General Manager of the store and they left me standing there. I then decided to go to Customer Care and I was assisted by a lady called Mamiki, her tag wrote she's the Store Assistant Manager. Mamiki explained that they do not have a General Manager in that store that's how she assisted me. Mamiki invited me to an office were she and I and Ntombi (security guard) sat down and discussed what had happened. In the discussion, Mamiki asked Ntombi what happened and Ntombi's reply was they did not accuse me that's why they didn't search me. My question was, why did they call me then if you are not accusing me of anything? They refused or can I say they ignored my question. Then they called a gentleman by the name of Mr Magwaza who is their Head of the Security Company ( Lodge Security). Mr Magwaza asked Ntombi why she did what she did. Unfortunately she couldn't answer. Then Ntombi was instructed to call Princess who went back to the Control Room. When Princess got to the office, she had a smirk on her face. When she was asked what had happened, she said I disappeared, she only saw me when I was about to exit. The funny part is I went to the last aisle and the cigarette counter before exiting the store, what does she mean when she says she only saw me when I was about to exit? That's when Mamiki said she will call the security company to lodge a complain about what had just transpired. Mr Magwaza even reiterated that Princess has a problem because she was involved in an incident this morning. Mr Magwaza also enforced that he will lodge a complain against both Princess and Ntombi. Then everyone left and I was left with Mr Magwaza who further apologised for the inconvenience. He promised I will receive a call from the Security Company were they will inquire some more about what happened. Then I went to Customer Care with Mamiki and she called them, I didn't witness the call because I had to leave. I'm very much disappointed in Pick n Pay because I once worked for it and I know it to be a store that does not accept incompetence and complacency. So I was shocked to see the type of companies that they get contracted with lately. And they claim that they take these people to inductions but clearly it seems like much is not taught. I did not know that walking around a store looking for whatever I'm looking for would constitute me to being a *****. I'm very much embarrassed because people were looking at me as if I indeed stole. Talk about defamation of character. To think I passed too many stores to come to Pick n Pay because of the loyalty I have with the store, then I experience this??? Totally disappointed
