When does a roast become a steak? False advertising.

Don't be misled by l Pick n Pay advertising "tomahawk steak" for R99.99 per kg. Along with what looks like a usual single portion steak. Because PnP has a very strange (and IMO deceptive) definition of "steak"

On arrival at the flagship Johannesburg store yesterday on a special trip to buy a single tomahawk steak, there were single portion "tomahawk" steaks at the butchery. But called "ribeye on the bone" and priced at R159.99 per kg. Alongside them were large "joints" (or "roasts" if you will) called tomahawks by PnP, at the advertised price. The butchery staff refused to agree that a tomahawk (a relatively new marketing name) was ribeye on the bone. Which of course it is. As single steaks served at restaurants local and abroad.

Today (Saturday) I was at another Northern Johannesburg PnP where there were two similar size "tomahawks". I asked for one to be weighed. 1.774 kg. A "steak"?! Really? Enough for five or six portions.
