Victimised at Pick n Pay Chatsworth

Good day!

I have often shopped at various Pick n Pay branches and for the first time i had experienced total disappointment and embarassment.

At approx 19:00 i was at your Chatsworth store with junior colleagues when we were approached by one of the security officers. The security officer was talk, dark and wore glasses. Both my colleagues and i were co-ordinating a Woman's Day function. Your security officer accused us of sleeping during the night and when i tried to brush him off he persisted and followed us insisting that all police sleep whilst on duty and when he worked night shift,he also slept. Both my colleagues and myself left your store upset and victimised, and i am sure that is not in line with your policy.

Anyway, after paying at the teller inwhich we spent over R1000, waited at the door with his follow colleagues and a smerk on his face as though he made fun of the police. Then one of his colleagues came and told us we couldnt use the basket trolley and exit the store inwhich we understood.

To be a senior member in the presence of your juniors and be victimised and embarassed was uncalled for and *********,that is definately not what we came to your store for. Worst of all, my colleagues wanted to shop at Checkers, at the Ridge and being a senior member i insisted on Pick n Pay- a real disappointment!

Firstly, if the officer wanted to greet, he should have and reserved the rest of his comments. Secondly, He should not have pushed the topic of conservation in the manner inwhich he did after i told him that he should not be stereotyping.

Thirdly, i find it quiet disappointing to know that you( Pick n Pay) are keeping that calibre of security interacting with your shoppers. Is that their function?

I know that Pick n Pay has always been of high standards and therefore it was my choice to shop at your store. In times like this, i dont think stores can afford to loose customers. Therefore i would know what steps have been taken to prevent what happened to me,from happening to anyone else. I also would like an apology for all statements made by your security officer. I have over ten years service and never once slept in my tour of duty, senior officers as well as colleagues can vouch that i am definately not one of those officers that sleep, hence my disappointment in being classed as such.

I trust you will be taking the necessary steps in resolving this issue.

Regards,
