Useless online shopping service for a small business

<p>Our small CC does not have a credit card so in the past we had to use my personal credit card to do online shopping via Pick n Pay. We were then told that they now accept debit cards, so last week we placed an order and effected payment via our business debit card. However, this morning (less than an hour before the scheduled delivery) we were advised that the payment did not go through and the delivery has been cancelled. They say it's a problem with Standard Bank, while the bank says that the problem lies with the merchant. A 40-minute telephone discussion with online consultant Nduzo Shabalalala and the online supervisor at the Norwood store, Siphokazi Mabengu, has not yet yielded any solution. The net result is a big waste of time and serious inconvenience, as our therapy rooms will run short of essentials like milk, toilet paper, tea, coffee and cleaning products unless one of the practitioners can physically get to the shops in the next couple of days....the very task that online shopping should allow one to avoid!</p> <p>A call from customer care's Phili Magwaza indicated that only SOME debit cards are accepted by Pick n Pay, contrary to what I was told last year - she says only signature-based cards with no PIN (of the sort no longer issued by the banks) are accepted. A warning to other small business owners - Pick n Pay's online shopping service is useless to meet our needs!</p>
