Uphalling and Shocking customer service

I went to Pick n Pay in Lenasia Trade Route Mall on the 21 May 2022 to purchase items less than 10. Went to the tills for 10 items or less and there was a queue which i did not mind. What raised my concern is that the staff were just going up to the cashiers and paying for their items whilst we customers had to wait to be helped. This i found very odd as we just stood there waiting to be helped. No staff member had the decency of explaining why this was ongoing. After some time when i finished paying for my groceries i went up to the Manager at the time called Marius and he defended his staff saying that was the norm when it came to the staff and it has been like that for the past 2 years. So i gather staff are more important than us customers and are valued more. If this is Pick n Pay's values on how to treat customers than i must say that i am very disappointed and shocked.
