Unhappy customer in light of Covid-19

On Tuesday afternoon the 24th of March 2020, after a in and out of the office in the cbd due to connectivity issues at home following our current pandemic. I decided to go past the pick n pay in Carlton and get a few items including some meat. I got chicken as well as chicken livers.

The sell by date on items was the 26th of March 2020, so on Wednesday evening decided to defrost the chicken and whilst defrosting. It had a dead fly, infuriated I immediately put it back in it's packet along with the fly. The very same evening I thought okay lets just make the livers, only to find thay they and had an offish smell and didn't taste right.

On Thursday afternoon I decided to go to a Pick n Pay close to home, Protea Glen mall to return the items as I already had essentials in the house and also just wanted a few extra items following Covid-19. Upon my arrival at Protea Glen mall Mr Makau store manager told me he was unable to assist because they are a franchise of Pick n Pay and not a Corporate.

He then suggested I go to Trade Route or Maponya mall. I had my son and daughter with me and it's the day before the Covid-19 lockdown shops are congested, ques are long and we should be practising social distancing. Thus wasn't prepared to make my way to the mentioned Pick n Pays.

I'm highly disappointed with Pick n Pay holistically, we as customers aren't necessarily aware of the difference and on a normal day by all means I would make my way to the Corporates but wasn't prepared to place myself and kids at even more risk as the reality is we should have been home. Surely there is a disaster management between Franchise and Corporate this is very infuriating and I feel violated as a customer. Also whilst our Preseident is telling us to practise hygiene, Pick n Pay is selling us goods that aren't in that standard.
