Subject: Unfair Treatment of a Long-Standing Pick n Pay Employee

As a loyal Pick n Pay Witpoortjie customer, I’m very concerned about how one of your long-serving staff members was recently treated.

She worked for over 5 years without any disciplinary issues, theft, or till shortages. Earlier this July, she found colleagues in the back storeroom, where damaged goods are usually kept and occasionally sold to staff at reduced prices. She asked if items were being sold and was told they were being thrown away. She simply asked for a doll and continued with her work... no hiding, no theft.

Weeks later, she was shocked to be called into a disciplinary hearing. Even after the CCTV footage confirmed her version and despite her excellent work history, she was still dismissed. It seems the decision was influenced by external pressure and not on the basis of fairness or facts.

It’s extremely disappointing to see a company like Pick n Pay dismiss a loyal, honest employee over a misunderstanding, especially when no malicious intent was found.

I urge Pick n Pay to reflect on how such decisions affect not just the individual, but the morale of other staff and the trust of customers like myself.
