********* pricing practices
I need to report Pick n Pay River Park in Kuils River.
1) On Monday afternoon the 10th of May 2021 I went to Pick n Pay to buy their 5 for R50 special that they have every week. Only the tomatoes and banana's had 5 for R50 stickers on them and when I ask the person working in the fruit and veg section, he did not know where the other 3 options were or which fruit and veg were part of the special. Eventually I decided to just take tomatoes and banana's. At checkout I watched the amount climb higher than expected. I paid so that I had some proof of what I thought happened and on the receipt it showed that no discount was deducted and they charged me R89.99.
2) Also on Monday at the same store they had a big sign advertising 1kg Corn Flakes for R38,99. I took one bag and on the same receipt as the 5 for R50 special, I noticed they had charged me R44,99.
The manager was called and I was ushered to the very last till point where no customers ever are because they only ever have 4 or 5 tills open. They were rude and very neverminded that the system obviously did not pick up the specials leaving me to believe that other customers were paying full price but not realising it.
4)At the same Pick n Pay a few months back, I noticed that the seals on the 1 liter tub of yogurts in the fridge were broken. I opened it and someone had definitely eat of it. I called the person over working in that area and he said he would take care of it. To me it seemed as if he was waiting for me to leave, so I left. I walked around the aisle and came around the other side. The employee had merely turned the yogurts around with the broken seals facing the back of the fridge.
5) The same Pick n Pay had a in store special where if you bought a large apricot jam and a Pick n Pay store white bread, it would only cost R30. I went to the bakery to ask for a white bread and was told by the lady behind the counter that they didn't have any and wouldn't be making any. They only had brown bread. I was shocked as this was 9 in the morning and the shop had only been open for a few minutes. I asked whether the special would be valid if I took a brown bread as they didn't have white. The manager was called and they agreed, the special would still be valid. Lo and behold, I get to the till and I am charged more than R50 for both.
My point is, they are ********* with their pricing and quality. We all know that you don't always check your till slip and if you're buying your months groceries, it would probably go unnoticed. I noticed because I do weekly shopping and have a limited amount of funds.
