Uncultured security personnel at PnP
I have endured so much harassment at the hands of security guards at PnP Maluti Crest and management has done absolutely nothing to address this issue, which I reported. The first incident happened at PnP Liquor then couple of weeks later it happened again in the PnP grocery store. Here’s the complaint I laid and never got a response to it:
Good morning
I’m disappointed to report yet again about the security personnel at your PnP Maluti Crest. I don’t know what kind of training they’ve received but it is terrible and it disturbs costumers’ shopping experience. On Saturday, around 16:00 I was harassed by a security personnel because I refused to leave my back at the parcel counter. I have explicitly stated before that I will not leave my valuables at a parcel counter but it seems after my first complaint the management had done absolutely nothing to address this. Upon entering the store, the security uttered words which I wonder where she gets the audacity to say such to customers. She then continued to call the manager, I assume, by the name of Vincent. Who sided with the security personnel, about 20-30 minutes of my time was wasted on an aisle arguing with Vincent and his security personnel. Apparently it is policy of the store for customers to leave their possessions at the parcel counter due to theft. So basically every black person (majority of shoppers at Maluti Crest are black people yes) who enters the store, as per Vincent’s words... is a *****? I must say that the racial profiling happening at this particular store is disgusting and can not be tolerated by me. At Dihlabeng and Harrismith, there are no parcel counters yet I’m told that it’s a store policy which they failed to show me where it’s written? As if that was not enough, yesterday around 13:00 another security on duty followed me in every isle I was in. Basically I’m being targeted as a customer thus making my shopping a living hell.“
I was then called by some but since I was engaged in a meeting, I asked them to call me back, they never did. I was then confronted by the guy named either Thabang/Thabo (branch manager, I assume) in PnP Liquor, who promised to get back to me but never did. Basically, I’m crazy!
This has been PnP Twitter account response since the 21/06/2021
Hi, thank you for reaching out to us. Apologies for any inconvenience experienced. Kindly not that we have flagged your matter with our management team. Once feedback is received, we will be in contact with you.
Now I’m even scared to step my foot in PnP again because of how the store lets its security to treat customers!
