Unacceptable and Embarrassing Treatment by a Cashier at Pick n Pay Wonderpark

I would like to raise a formal complaint regarding the service I received at Pick n Pay Hyper Wonderpark on 4 November 2026 at approximately 14:14.

During my shopping visit, I proceeded to the till to pay for my groceries. Unfortunately, there was no packer available at the cashier's till. Instead of offering assistance or handling the situation professionally, the cashier, Charmaine Manyelo (Till No. ***), refused to pack my groceries into plastic bags and told me that I must pack them myself.

What made the experience particularly unpleasant was the manner in which this was handled. I felt embarrassed and humiliated in front of other customers. I understand that stores can sometimes experience staff shortages, and I would have been happy to understand the situation if it had been communicated to me respectfully.

What disappointed me even more was that there appeared to be supervisors overseeing the tills, yet nobody intervened or offered assistance. They simply stood by while the situation unfolded.

As a paying customer, I believe I deserve to be treated with dignity, courtesy and respect. Customers should not be made to feel embarrassed for expecting reasonable assistance and good customer service.

I am extremely disappointed by this experience, particularly from a well-established retailer such as Pick n Pay.

I would appreciate the following:

1. A formal response from Pick n Pay regarding this incident. 2. An investigation into the conduct of the cashier involved. 3. An explanation as to why the supervisors present failed to intervene. 4. Assurance that measures will be taken to prevent other customers from experiencing similar treatment.

I hope Pick n Pay takes this complaint seriously and uses it as an opportunity to improve customer service at its Wonderpark branch.
