I purchased a tin of mustard powder along with a few other items which fitted into two bags on Tuesday 6th June. When I got home I could not find the mustard. I called the store the next day and asked if anyone had notified Management or handed in a tin of mustard - or even if this type of thing happened. I was asked if I had the slip to which I rep**** that I did but not on me at the time of the call. I was advised to please come into the store with or without my slip.

I arrived early this evening after work and handed my slip to the store manager who duly sent a staff member to the office while she fetched another tin. At this point, I was fully under the impression that I would be given a replacement tin. The manager returned a few moments later after she had walked past me to the office with the tin in hand and advised me that the 'tin was definitely placed in your packets' you must have dropped it or left it in the trolley.

I was quite taken aback. My immediate thought was that my meagre little shop did not warrant a replacement tin at R41.99. Or did she think I was trying to pull a fast one and 'score' a free tin of powdered mustard ? !
I would like to suggest to Pick n Pay that a) If they have CCTV footage of the packing process perhaps advise the customer or invite the customer to view the footage ? b) if it is their policy not to entertain customers who claim their purchased item did not make it into the packet that they say so up front and not invite customers into the store.

I shop a minimum of once a week at this particular Pick n Pay and have done so for over 20 years feeding my family of 5. I most certainly have spent many tens of thousands at PnP over the years. A little goodwill and benefit of the doubt would have gone a long way.
