The Muslim customer cannot trust the food at the halaal deli, thanx to the 'Manager'
If I could could choose 0 stars I would. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted by the male manager that could not respect the Islamic religion. Not sure what his name is but I spoke to him shortly after the incident. I was at pnp Strand street to purchase food. The incident happened at the food counter. A male customer was wanting to warm unhalaal food at the halaal section. The lovely ladies, who always provide the best service, kindly advised him that he cannot as the microwave is for halaal food only. He refused to respect that and kept on. A female customer then involved herself and told them, at the end of the day he is a customer and they not interested in unhalaal and halaal. She continued to insult them by calling them lazy and stupid but they stood there ground and advised that they cannot assist him as the microwave is for halaal. She then asked them if they Muslim, they advised her they not and still the ladies at the counter stood by the policy and respect for the Islamic religion and refused to assist. The lady went to fetch the manager and told them that they will see, the food will be warmed. Till that point I was impressed with the staff of pnp. Then the male manager showed up and told them to warm the food. I then approached the lady and himself at the information desk in a respectable manner to advised that he was completely wrong by allowing that. He then proceeded to interrupt me and say he doesn't want to get involved with customers religions at the end of the day they are customers. I told him there is a reason why food that are not meat specific cannot be marked with the halaal sign and that the two foods must be kept separate. Even though I took the time to explained to him, he interrupted again showing no concern to what I was telling him. I then told him that he wouldn't be happy if we had disrespected his religion or culture and walked her way because his lack of wanting to understand the importance was upsetting even more so that he is a manager and there was a female colleague agreeing with him. Pnp Strand street has a large amount of Muslim customers and it is shocking at how quick the Manager had less respect than the staff of the shop.. He needs to be removed from that store. This needs to be addressed urgently before this makes it to social media (facebook). I have tried to speak to the 'Manager' that didn't work, hence we are here now. If doesn't get the attention it deserves, I will escalate this further. Simply, if this manager did this this time, who knows how many other times has he done this before.... The Muslim customer cannot trust the food at the halaal deli.
