Terrible Service

On 06/10/2016 my wife and I purchased two braaipacks (chicken) for the store at R92 and R96 each. Like any other shopper we would get home and put the chicken in the freezer. This past Friday we took the chicken out and it smelled off. My wife went to the store on Saturday afternoon but was turned away because the use by date was for 10.10.2016 and we only returning the stuff on 15.10.2016. She called me and asked me to come to the store. Got there I spoke to and I assume it was the supervisor on duty (Kashief) who also explained to me the sell by/use by date. He went as far to say that the chicken was brought fresh when we left the store and what happened afterwards is out of their control. He tried to expalin to me about the new CPA law when it comes to buying fresh foods. I requested to see the script but he couldnt produce it to me. I explain to him that like any other housewife you would not go to the fridge and check on each and every use by date of your perishables when you at home. Needless to say, I was turned away without any assistance. I than requested to speak to the Manager (Danesh) and was informed that he would only be in Sunday (yesterday) morning at 08h00 and that I could come back. Back to the store I went and spoke to the Manager, but I immediately got the impression that I would once again had to walk away defeated. Again I was told about the CPA law and again no one could give me proof of such. The Manager also gave me the same old story about the sell/use by dates. Now my question is if your chicken is fresh ( I assume it was fresh as the merchandiser was packing it out at the time) and it's bought on the 6th, it must surely last past the 10th (use by date) and not to be consumed within 4 days. I am a former employee of PNP and believe me when I say that the shrinkage in the storeroom is way more than my R200 chicken. Never in my life was I ever treated in this manner. The gentleman mentioned above had shown no remorse of willingness to assist me in any way possible as they were like standing with the question of what do you expect us to do instead of offering me any assistance. I had to return home and tell my kids that there would be no chicken today.

If i had my way I would have gone straight to the fridge, get a new pack and give the "old slip" to the cashier and walk out of the store, but than again I would have had security coming after me and police locking me up for shoplifting for chicken that I have bought in the first place, not from any store, but PNP. I can assume to get this kind of service from Shoprite and not from a leading retailer such as PNP, but I'm 100% sure Shoprite would have assisted if the chicken was bought from them.
