Shocking service at Pick n Pay

I have been a loyal Pick n Pay shopper for many years but I am considering switching to another retailer after several shocking experiences at two different Pick n Pays and two fruitless attempts to lodge a service complaint on their website.

On several occasions over the last few months I have gone to shop at Pick n Pay specifically to take advantage of advertised specials, only to find that when I get to the till the items are incorrectly marked. I will share just two recent examples. At Pick n Pay hyper in Durban north I tried to purchase avos and bananas which were clearly advertised on the shelf at a reduced price. Upon ringing them up this was not the price I was charged. When querying this management argued with me and said I had got the price wrong. I then asked management to please accompany me to the shelf so I could show them the price. I arrived at the shelf and found that the price tag had been removed but noticed that an employee had them in his hand. I showed this to the mnager and he then alleged that the price was an error and that I would have to pay full price. Since this had hapepned to me several times I objected and after standing my ground for some time I got one of the items at the advertised price.

Example 2 wasa few weeks ago as La Lucia mall where Pick n Pay brand olives were advertised at R18.99 and R 19.99 depending on the flavour. I bought several bottles but they rang up at around R 30. Again I called the manager and he had the audactity to argue with me and stated that that could never be the price. Again I took him to the shelf whereupn he saw the price and alleged it was an error and appeared quite annoyed with me and stated that this price was unrealistic for this product. I insisted and he eventually agve me the product at that price. I retuned again a few weeks later and bought the product for R 18.99 and R 19.99 so I fail to see what the fuss was about.

These two examples would be forgivable were it not for the frequency that I have experienced wrongly marked sale items at the tills and the poor attitude of management.

I went to their website and posted two complaints over a period of 3 weeks to which I received no response.

I find it strange that in such a competative world as retail that a shop can treat its customers so poorly and risk losing them.

I am disgusted and will share my experience with others and switch to another retailer.
