Shocking "service"

It is the responsibility of the staff to attend to customers in a way that makes them feel welcome. I understand retail is a stressful environment, but the surly attitude of the staff is inexcusable.

It is not the first time I have waited for service, alone, at the bakery section, and I always greet the staff cheerily with a smile which I expect to be returned. Usually this gets ignored and all I get is a dismissive "plastic?"

It is not my responsibility as a customer to find the manager so he can police his staff.

Not only is it a frustrating thing to experience, it's a waste of my time and I also feel foolish and embarrassed for complaining about something that really shouldn't be part of my shopping experience.

I left my laden trolley where it was, and after telling the manager what had happened, I simply left the shop and went to Spar instead.

I must say that Spar is further for me to drive, but the friendly staff and quick service makes it worth my while, a refreshing experience after what I endured at pick n pay
