Shame on you Pick ,n Pay Douglasdale

Shame on you Pick ‘n Pay Douglasdale

On Friday evening 28 June, I popped into the store after work to get a few groceries. On Special were roasted chickens, two for R100, a great offer. So I put two in my trolley. After I’d been through the till point, I checked my till slip, as I always do. I’d been charged R132.98 for the chickens, which is the full price. And so the fun began ....... NOT! And this is not the first time this has happened!!

I stopped one of the store staff and asked if she could explain. She asked another staff member who spoke to a woman in a red uniform. She barked something at him and the lady I spoke to originally then found another man, this time John, who said he was the Store Manager on duty. I explained the situation to him and was told that there was a system problem which was why the discount hadn’t come through on the till. I asked him to refund my R32.98 and his answer was “I’m sorry I can’t help you Ma’am this is a head office problem. I was astounded to say the least. My first comment was to question how many customers who didn’t look at their till slips had left the store thinking they had a a bargain instead of which they were quietly **********!!!! He danced around that and when I asked why then he hadn’t taken the sign down he had no reply. I really lost it .... what this really a system problem or yet another money making move either for the store or for certain individuals. He then offered to give me the full R132.98 back which I took and gave him back the chickens. There was no paperwork for this. I do, however, still have my till slip. I told him I would post this incident on Hello Peter.

I then went into the store on Sunday morning to speak to one of the owners but there was only John. I left. On Monday evening I went back into the store and asked to see an owner. I was met by Themba, who told me he was the senior manager on duty. I told him the story and he promised to get either Andre or Wilson to call me on Tuesday. Ever hopeful that I would get the call and perhaps they could put out an SMS to customers, I didn’t put the post on Hello Peter. Surprise, surprise, no phone call, so now its time to put this in the open.

As convenient as the store is for me, I won’t be shopping there again.
