Selling shop soiled goods as new

On the 09th December, my mother bought herself a fridge from Pick and Pay Ottery Hypermarket. The fridge was a Defy that , they had on special... the ad clearly showed that it was guaranteed by Defy for 5 years. The sales Angelo, who assisted my mother told her that Pick and Pay gave a 5 year warranty on the fridge. My mother a pensioner had saved for the fridge and paid cash for it. He did not even give her a receipt but only an invoice stating the fridge had a 5 year warranty. We later queried it on the same day by phoning, the customer call centre, speaking to Thembelani. She tried to give us a spin on the warranty being the same as the manufacturer's guarantee. She even phoned the store and escalated the matter. We then spoke to a manager by the name of Vendri. He also tried to explain that the warranty and guarantee is the same... I refuted this as the Manufacturer is giving the 5 year GUARANTEE and according to Angelo Pick and Pay was giving the warranty. I also explained to them that it was ******* and ********* of them to ***gy back on the manufacturer's guarantee by creating the impression it was Pick and Pay giving the warranty. On Tuesday(12/09/17) we phoned again and was informed that Glenn Miller, the Regional manager had closed the matter without even contacting us! To fast forward the story we made another few calls, got them to promise to replace the fridge (which has a dent on the one side and the rubbers are loose). They then told my mother due to the holidays, they will lodge a complaint with Defy and they will send out technicians to assess the situation. I informed my mother it is her right to demand a brand new fridge as she was under the impression she bought a new fridge. TWO MONTHS later we are still waiting on the fridge to be replaced, Pick and Pay makes all kinds of promises and fails to keep even one! My mother had spent R4600 0n buying a brand new fridge and she got a shop soiled one that is DAMAGED and with loose rubbers. Pick and Pay never had a problem accepting her money... they claim the customer is king yet the treatment my mother got is disgusting and loathsome... Clint at Ottery Hypermarket had promised her to sort out her fridge to replace it and ensure her satisfaction... yet the all seem to be playing ball-ball with her... I am ashamed of the treatment that she had received even though she has tried to be accommodating and patient in allowing them to shunt her around... All she wanted was a new fridge and she got sucked into this unprofessional ces****l of lies and deceit.
