Selling rotten meat

I went to pick n pay hyper in northgate on the 30th of December to buy groceries. I bought the "fresh" chicken drumsticks and thighs pack when I got home and opened it to cook the chicken it had a bad smell. When I smelled it the chicken is clearly rotten. When I looked at the expiry date I can see that a price tag was removed (which was clearly the original price tag with the original expiry date) and replaced with a new price tag with a expiry for a later date.

Is this pick n pay policy to extend expiry dates of food that could poison people. I sent an email to the customer care and received a auto reply with reference number (278640), today is the 26th of January almost a month later and no one has been in contact showing that pick and pay doesn't care.
