Selling expired items

On Friday 1 November 2024, I bought Ouna Rusks from Pick 'n Pay - New Market, Lemon Tree, Alberton. After consuming the rusks, I noticed that the taste was a bit off, so I looked on the box to see the expiry date and noted that the rusks expired 29/09/2024. Shortly I was experiencing diarrhoea So later that day I went back to the Pick 'n Pay to return the rusks and show them that the items sold were expired. When I got to Pick 'n Pay there were 2 Supervisors, I cannot recall their names, but the other one was Sindiswa. After explaining the situation, the two ladies had the nerve to tell me that there is nothing they can assist me with, I just need to come back on Monday when there's Management. My question was, how am I supposed to treat the stomach ailments with which I am faced? They opened the till and gave me R500. By that time, it was 19H00 there was no Dr or Pharmacy I could consult with. On Saturday, I went to consult with a local GP, who then advised that the diarrhoea, stomach ailments and the high body temperatures are as a result of food poisoning. I tried calling Pick 'n Pay today and the Supervisor who answered the phone had the nerve to say, "maybe you should consult with the Supplier". How am I to consult with the Supplier when I bought the goods at Pick'n Pay? I have been off work for 2 days, I work on a commission basis, who is to compensate me for the lost time? I've spent more than the R500 that was given to me on medication and consulting with the Drs. Furthermore, the money I used to buy the rusks was not reimbursed. I need answers and solutions to this situation. No one is reaching out to me.
