Rotten Tomatoes and Rotting Customer Service

If you’re looking for an adventure in patience-testing, Pick n Pay Lambton has you covered!

The previous day, I bought a pack of cherry tomatoes, excited to toss together a fresh green salad for breakfast. Fast forward to morning, and instead of a vibrant, juicy addition to my meal, I was greeted by rotten, mouldy blobs of sadness.

Determined to exchange the offending tomatoes for a fresh pack, I marched back to the store. First stop: the friendly lady at the door. She escorted me to a supervisor who was deeply engaged in a very important phone call (probably negotiating world peace, I presume). She summoned another assistant, who finally arrived, expressionless and apology-free.

I explained my tomato tragedy, and she asked if I wanted a refund or fresh tomatoes. I opted for fresh ones. Simple, right? Nope! She vanished into the abyss, leaving me standing there with my sad salad dreams. Minutes crawled by as I watched her help another customer before telling me someone else would assist me. (Spoiler: That someone never came.)

Fed up, I returned to the door lady, trying to confirm the name of the elusive assistant. Instead of help, I got confusion — like I was trying to crack a secret code. Just as I was unraveling the mystery, a cashier barged in to announce I’d be getting a refund. Turns out, they didn’t have any more cherry tomatoes.

Refund received. No apology. No empathy. No tomatoes.

Pick n Pay Lambton, if customer service were a fruit, yours would be as rotten as those cherry tomatoes. 👎🍅
