Robertson Pick n Pay Liquor (Terrible Customer Service)
Good day I was shopping at your liquor store on the 21st of March 2019, I especially drove past the Spar in the entrance to the town, and did my shopping of R600 at the Pick n Pay grocery store as I a m a loyal customer, then made my way to the ick n Pay Liquor store to get some ice and a 6 pack of beers. I entered the store, took 3 bags of ice in my basket, then made my way to the fridge and placed a 6 pack of Windhoek lager in the basket. Now as I made my way to the till, I rounded the corner in the store, the six pack slid out of my basket and fell on the floor just before the till, shattering 3 bottles. Immediately, a guy named Steven started cleaning it up and announced himself as the store manager. He demanded I pay for it, since it was my fault that it slipped and fell out of the basket. I tried to explain it was an accident, however his tone became a bit loud and threatening, saying he was only following instructions from the store owner. Now a s a brand, I would think that a company as big as Pick n Pay would have a policy in place protecting its customers from breakages. None the less, I did not wish to make a scene so I paid for the 6 pack and ice I needed and left, with the 3 remaining beers. Would you much rather lose a customer, rather than a 6 pack worth R80? It left a bad taste in my mouth, and I will be honest, although I returned to the Pick n Pay store for my groceries over the next couple of days, I rather went to purchase my alcohol at TOPS for the remainder of my stay in Robertson. I do not wish for this to go viral, which is why I am not posting it on Facebook or the like, all I want to know if this is indeed Pick n Pay’s policy regarding breakages in the store, and should I have paid I broke it accidentally? I have the slips and pictures of the breakage as evidence.
