Reason for Market share loss in obvious

If Pick n Pay want to know why they are losing market share to all the other retailers, the answer is quite simple - your shop-floor staff are useless. You dont need to do deep analysis, or bring in Sean Summers to rescue you, quite simply take a look at the efficiency of your floor staff. For example, Kenilworth Centre branch on a Saturday morning. One staff member on duty in the bakery/deli, and five hiding in the backroom. And that's just one example. Plenty of staff around, but either on their phones or huddled in groups chatting. Tellers more interested in chatting to one another than cashing-up. Customers seem to be seen as an inconvenience. I sympathise that you cannot fire people in this day and age, but incentivise your staff to make the customer experience a pleasant one, and maybe all those shoppers lost to Checkers and Shoprite may start dribbling back. Or dont...and keep closing stores - your staff deserve to be laid-off.
