Racial profiling

On Wednesday I took my mentally challenged brother in law to watch a movie and after he asked me to take him to buy air time.

We went to pick and pay Shelly Beach

The cashier Vasi was helping him at the till. I stood just behind him to observe if he can manage on his own as a life lesson.

During his transaction Vasi started barking at him about some nonsense about previous day that a customer asked for R200 air time then customer didn't want it and she had to pay in the money. I think she got annoyed that he can't speak clearly and have a severe stutters.

I was very disappointed at that point but didn't want to make a scene as there was lot customers in the shop.

I wanted to swipe my card for his transaction and she told me NO. I cant swipe. He must have his own card...

That set me off.

When we signed up for the card we only took a card for our FAMILY. So when my kids or wife or brother in law goes shopping we use one card

According to pick n pay Tc's it is allowed as long as all parties using card agreed

After this tasteless event I went to the manager. He told me that according to him I can swipe my card for my brother in law.

We walked to the cashier together and before anything was said a short fat indian lady barged in and said that her cashiers are all trained not to allow other people using each other cards? Im very much lost now. Must my 14 &8 year old now get club cards too?

NO its not Pick and Pay policy

To me it seems that they didn't want me as a white man to swipe a card for my disabled indian brother in law that I take care off

Im not happy with the way I was treated

I did log a call with the call centre on Wednesday 5 July 13:45

I still didn't have a reply from them
