Pricing of clothing items

On 23 October I purchased a clothing item at Pick 'n Pay Clothing. At the tillpoint the price was R10.00 more than what was printed on the label. According to the friendly staff member, the prices went up on selecyed clothing. What I can't understand is, why would the clothing prices go up by +/- 12% from the original price? You dont see other clothing companies sell their summer stock at one price and then suddenly decide to increase the price on that item. This isn't normal groceries that fluctuate in price. Clothes are bought per season at a certain price. You then decide on the mark-up and sell that clothing item at a certain price. Now because the price of diesel, etc goes up, you decide to increase the sale margain on your clothes.
