Pricing inconsistency, or branch match error... Which ever they prefer to call it...

I went tot the V&A waterfront on Sunday and went to PnP to check for specials and buy a Pizza base. Fortunately my girlfriend was with me, and is a slightly smarter shopper than I.

Upon seeing the Pizza bases being sold for R43, my girlfriend told me "this is ridiculous! They are cheaper at our local PnP!!!'. I thought to myself "ok so, I'll take a picture and if my girlfriend is right, I'll make a Hello Peter post! What a good idea that was...

When my girlfriend and I later went to PnP Seapoint, I discovered that she was indeed correct! The same brand pizza bases cost an astounding R35. For the less mathematically inclined, that is the difference of R8 for exactly the same product.

Not a product that was about to expire and was being sold at a reduction. Nope... The exact same product. Following a previous complaint where last year I identified PnP Hout Bay selling expired PnP brand yogurt in multiple different product displays, and consequently reported that discovery on Hello Peter. I was supposedly credited R100 on my smart shopper card for my good deed. Although I did not receive proof of that credit, PnP's fast response and apparent good will set my mind at ease that it was an honest mistake and that PnP was still a trust worthy organization.

I now feel as though my brand faith is being further tested. As a smart shopper, I believe it is important to report such issues to PnP, but inconvenient processes and repeated offenses make me wonder if I should switch from my favorite grocery store in favor of another. Checkers does offer FNB ebucks after all. Maybe next time I'll get my pizza bases from them (although South Africa's current polititical climate of *******ion will probably lead me to find similar inconsistencies there too).

I suppose I would like PnP to assure more rigor in their consistency across their stores. Most customers probably do not check pricing as rigorously as I do. I write this for them and hope that these inconsistencies can be reduced, even though there is probably no reward for myself.
