Pricing Discrepancies
I went to Pick n Pay Jabulani Mall to purchase food and joined the queue at the food/meat station. While waiting, I noticed that the customers ahead of me were purchasing the same meat that I was interested in, which was displayed at a price of R99 per kilogram.
When it was finally my turn to be served, the lady working at the station took the meat away and returned it to the kitchen, stating that the meat was very expensive and could not be sold at the advertised price of R99 per kilogram.
I questioned why the customers before me were allowed to purchase the meat at R99 per kilogram, while the price was suddenly considered incorrect when it was my turn. If the staff member had noticed that the price was incorrect, I believe the same pricing issue should have been addressed consistently with all customers, rather than allowing some customers to purchase the product at that price and then refusing to sell it to another customer.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have experienced pricing discrepancies at this store. There have been several occasions where products are displayed at a particular price per kilogram, but when the product is weighed at the till or food station, a completely different price is charged. When customers question the difference, there often appears to be no clear explanation from the staff.
I am also concerned about the level of service at the food station, particularly during lunchtime. There is often only one person serving customers during one of the busiest periods of the day, resulting in long queues and unnecessary delays.
I would appreciate it if management could investigate this matter, particularly the pricing discrepancy, how advertised prices are handled, and the staffing levels at the food station during busy periods.
As a loyal customer, I believe customers should be treated fairly and consistently, and advertised prices should be honoured or clearly explained when there is an error.
I look forward to receiving feedback regarding this complaint and what steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
