Pressure Cooker Boils of anger

I purchased a Tedelex Pressure Cooker on the 13th of May to prepare myself for Ramadaan. After my purchase, I opened the box and found that the pressure knob was missing. I took the pot back the next day which was on a Sunday and the lady that assisted me didn't even know what a pressure cooker was so she just came back to so there is nothing on the isles... Luckily there was an employee worker from PnP that was listening to our conversation and he then led me to the correct isle and there were 7 boxes still available. Be that as it may we searched all 7 boxes only to find that none of these boxes contained the pressure knob. He was generous enough to provide me a knob from the display item. No paperwork was filled in as it was like "here's your knob and be happy" just so that I can leave. I used my pot twice which was for the purpose of cooking soup and it was working like a bomb... The third time around when I used my pot, I noticed that the soup was leaking and I kept cleaning and checking to see how it was possible for the soup to leak out, only to find that the pressure valve is gone. So in my whole experience with this pot I believe that this product is a manufacturing fault. I went back to the store to either get a refund or replacement and I was told by two managers that I am not able to get a refund because the product is out of warranty and if I want a replacement, I need to get hold of House of Living Brands to put through my complaint for a replacement. My contact with House of Living Brands (Vanessa) went sour because according to her my point of sale was Pick n Pay and I need to go back to the store in order to get my issue resolved. I then phoned the store and spoke to Bridgette. This was a hopeless case because after committing to feedback, which I had to wait 2 weeks for, I phoned again and she flamed up an excuse that her PC was moved and she had no internet connection and that is why she couldn't get hold of me... I assist costumers as well and if I know my PC is going to be moved or have no internet I make a physical note of who I need to contact to constantly provide feedback to the client. I mean it's not like she never had the supplier contact details... Was it so hard to do the same thing? If I had never phoned Bridgette, I would have still been waiting on feedback... It took another couple of days for Bridgette to get back to me only to be advised that I need to pay R25 to have my valve replaced, which I flatly refused as I believe this product that I bought is a manufacturing fault. Was it my fault that the pressure knob was missing in all 7 boxes? NO! Was it my fault that the valve came out of its socket and have my soup leak out? NO! So my question is why doesn't the supplier want to take responsibility and why doesn't the store want to take responsibility?

People might say it's just a R25 and why don't I replace it, yes I can replace it, but there is principal and ethics behind this situation. It's not that this is a first time that I had a pot, I have had a pressure cooker before and for the 3-4 years that I had my pot, it never gave me problems... why now!!!

Today I get a call from Bridgette that there is nothing both parties can do for me and the best option is to pay the R25 to have the valve replaced and yet once again she flames up a story she was not in office due to personal issues (not my problem). I AM REFUSING THIS OPTION. I WANT MY FULL REFUND!!! What's to say the valve does not come out again, who can guarantee me that? I would rather have my money back.

I work for a telecommunication company and when a customer phones I can't provide the customer a sad story as to why I was not available for a while due to personal issues... very unprofessional.

I hope something good can out of this, because this is not something I do! I am an introvert and I normally let things slide and always give the next person the benefit of the doubt, however I have had it and I would appreciate it if there is someone out there that can help me... I don't want a broken pot and I don't want to replace the valve. I want my refund!!!

Thanks and much appreciated Tougiedah Brown
