Poor quality control

I visited Pick n Pay Dainfern Square on Wednesday, Purchased a few items along with that I purchased 2x trays of chicken breasts. When I got home and began to prepare to cook I opened the chicken pack only to find that the chicken was slimy and smelly. Basically it was off. We returned it to them and they refunded. My question is why is such poor quality items on your shelf? doesn't anyone check this? I had to drive back to the store to return? no one compensated me for this
